- (124:32) "some kynd of paint callit fidelity"
Goodparley's inability to understand the word fidelity is ironic: besides the altered sexual mores of the time, there is a general lack of personal loyalty demonstrated throughout the book, especially by Goodparley and other political actors. The word's other sense—accuracy—is also reflected ironically in this scene, as we see historical knowledge being passed along with extremely low fidelity.
