Thomas M. Disch (1940-2008), New Wave SF visionary, anatomist of New York City and Minnesota, Gothic experimenter, poet, critic, crank. One of those "I didn't know he did that too" people, thanks to his uncharacteristic successes with The Brave Little Toaster and The M.D. He's sorely missed.
